Treading Water – The Last Two Months

So  I’ve been rather quiet on the blog here these last two months. Sorry about that, but there really is a good reason. Or five. So the good news is that I’ve been keeping very busy work-wise. I keep thinking that I’m going to branch out in my writing, but International Living has got me so busy that I don’t even have time to update my blog, let alone pursue other writing venues. That’s okay though, because it’s steady work and I enjoy it, so no complaints here.

In September, the boys and I began our school year again, which always takes a few weeks to settle into, but this year was especially messy because mid-September David and Jesse went to Panama for a week. During that time Magdalena came to stay with us again and with the upheaval Justin pretty much got to take a week off from school (as did Jesse who was on vacation).

A week and a half after the guys returned from Panama I left for an IL conference in Las Vegas. I spent four days there and then continued on to South Dakota for some family time (more on that very soon). After returning mid-October I’ve been scrambling to catch up on writing, editing, and preparing for further IL events and trips. Oh, and we’re working at settling back into a homeschool routine (more on that in a bit). Sooo…….that’s where I’ve been and why I’ve been noticeably silent. Sorry about that and I’ll do my best not to let it happen too often. Keep your eyes open for insights on what it was like to be back in the U.S. after three years, coming soon!

  1. Sometimes you need to get back to your roots. I was in Florida for business twice this summer. Everything’s about Quito now and trying new ways to make money. I’ve considered blogging, but it probably cannot pay all my expenses right?

    Glad to hear you’re back!

    1. Hi Stewart,

I think that blogging can be fairly lucrative if you know what you’re doing and are willing to put in that initial investment of time. For me, it’s just a place to write whatever doesn’t fit into a paying gig. Maybe someday I’ll look into taking it to the next level, but that might take some of the fun out of it. 🙂

  2. Hi Wendy, wanting to live in Costa Rica, do you have a good communicative contact in that are who would share with me …..? …..thanks FIL …..www.fspmedia.com

    1. Hi FIL,

I don’t have any specific contacts, but you might try the Gringo Expats in Costa Rica group on Facebook. I’m sure the members there will have plenty of information on the country for you. Also, internationalliving.com has quite a bit of info on their page about Costa Rica and other countries that appeal to expats. Good luck!
